I'm confused. Poly filter pad

Someone on here suggested I use the poly filter pad for filtering to help clean my tank to see if it would help with the snails dying
Ok my problems I have a issue with the instructions. It says with the white area " something don't have it in front of me" is it the side with the whole side "dusted " white or the side that has white dots and a blackish background?

What is the brand of this filter pad? The only ones I have used are entirely white and you simply cut them to fit the space you are filtering.

It needs to be Boyd Polyfilter to be useful in the context of metal binding to possibly help snails.

The function (binding metals) may be different than the one you are using. Their claim to bind metals may not really be the way a boyd Polyfilter does.

The name-knock-off products on the market don't help....

Another "Poly Filter Pad"....but obviously not the same thing...just some foam and floss bonded together.
