nice, I am pretty new to carbon dosing but I just started dosing red sea's no3po4x with similar results, I was surprised how fast it dropped my nitrates.

Im going to try and see the affects of both doing it and when i stop to see how fast/if it goes back up

No but did have dinos a month or 2 ago but i beat them quick

If the dino is still in your tank you're gonna find out soon enough they love some carbon dosing. That's how I found out I had them 2 weeks of dosing and bam my tank was smothered. Took a black out and a half bottle of peroxide to get them under control

I dont have any at this point but im skimming like a mad man

Following along, Ive been occasional dosing sugar in very very small doses (1/16 if a teaspoon total for 72+8 gallons) though my nitrates have been staying between 7-10 I want it to read 0. Ive managed it a couple of times.

7-10 isn't bad I'd be happy if mine would stay there but my my live rock is so old it leeches nitrate out. I just got them off a 15 year old sand bed when I switch to my 150. My nitrates were at 40 a week after the swap. I've been thinking about dosing again but keep getting dino nightmares

A quick day 3 yesterday 3/13/16

nothing changed

I'm doing the same thing I just upped my dose to 1 tsp I was doing 1/2 tsp on a 125 it will take some time I've heard.I'm going to do it another week and see then.

FWIW, my very short experiments with sugar dosing resulted in browning of corals.

In general, I believe that I see somewhat more problems with sugar dosing than either acetate (vinegar) or ethanol (vodka) dosing.

It took me 6 weeks of dosing to get nitrate under 10. The bacteria has to build up to consume the nitrates so it takes a little time

Yes i went to vinager zero now and bought a better skimmer
