Im in need of help

Hi I'm new to all this and I'm have a bit of a problem With my nitrate, can't seem to keep the Levels down. Goes way up everything else fine just nitrates. And I have tried water changes in the last week. I've done 3 of them and still high my nitrate is at 5.0ppm my ammonia is at0ppm hp at 7.8 and nitrite at 0ppm what can I'm be doing wrong.?

5 nitrates is fine. I am currently in the battle to up mine to 20 and I am sitting at 5.

Depends what you are keeping. I know a few who's nitrates were over 100. But can't keep acropora alive.

So if you are keeping acros, I wouldn't go over 20 nitrates. Just my own opinion.

5 would be the bare minimum you want! If you can keep it there great if not don’t worry till you’re over 25 or so..

I try and keep mine at 10-15 and would rather have it a little higher than lower.

When it consistently rises week to week then start managing with export functions, water change being an example.

Levels very in the range, but stability is everything.

% is great, mine stay anywhere from 10 to 20. As long as your nitrate and phosphate are somewhat in sync, you should be good. Some critters actually somewhat "dirty" water.
