Hi everyone, i'm new to the blog and to the "aquarium lifestyle" as well... i have a 4mth old 80 gl marine tank, with a samp and i've got 2 anemones 15 days ago.

Well around 10 days ago one of them just desapeared over night... any ideas of what could have happened?

Tks a lot

It may have went behind a rock or in a hole until it acclimates to your tank.

Sometimes they deflate and you can't see them. Usally when they do this i seen them come right back to orinal size. Funny creatures.

What kind of anemone was it?

BTW WELCOME!

Check your overflow and drain pipe...I had one in my overflow cause me a lot of problems recently. It was too big to get in drain, luckily.

Tks for the answers guys... it's a bubble anemone and ive already checked the overflow, my tank is pretty well closed so it would be inpossible to it to get out of the tank... an other detail that i did remember in the night it has got missing my skimmer has gonne crazy...

Oh man, that doesn't sound good. Is anything else in the tank looking irritated (like from nem goo)?

What is your lighting? What are your water parameters? What tank mates? I put an RBTA in a nano cube under LEDs a few months ago. It looked good for a few days and then withdrew into the live rock. I expected it to find a happy spot and come back out. However, it never reappeared.

Anemone are notorious for walking/floating around the tank (especially if unhappy and always when you don't want them to). They are prone to getting sucked into a powerhead and being obliterated by the impeller.

Everything else in the tank looks alright including the other anemone that i have bought... temp 26 degree, anmonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 15, ph 8.3, kh 10, not sure about phosphate... i have 2 sets of leds with blue and white lights mixed...

The tank has 310 lt of watwer (360lt - rocks and sand)... the samp has a sand bed, skimmer and macro algae... plus couple filters...

It might have just wedged itself somewhere you cant see it, I DONT reccomend you go digging through your rocks because you will probably tear it in half when you separate the two rocks its on because in my experience bubble tips are never happy attached to just one rock. Sometimes a flashlight at night is better to find hidden things than daylights.
