I caught an interest in the beauty of fish tanks recently, but now I am struggling to find a way to solve the problem of having old aquarium stuff I no longer use. Not wanting it to go to waste, I am hoping to be able to provide these things to someone in need (like I wish I had found before buying it all at the store at full price!). This site is a bit confusing, so far I've found the Marketplace, but it won't give me permission to use it. I don't know how this site works but here I am, signed up and registered...

You are very nice wanting to help someone out! I would suggest using FB or local Craigslist. Your equipment is perfect for freshwater hobbyists, and I'm sure someone will be very happy to take what you're offering!

Welcome like everyone said above there are rules so we can interact with others and try to solve problems before it gets to this point. fb marketplace would be your best bet never used Craigslist.

Welcome to R2R! As mentioned above you have to have a certain number of posts before you can post in the Marketplace section. It may be easier if you are leaving the hobby to just list on FB or Craigslist as recommended. If you're just looking to dispose of some no longer used gear, just start posting you'll soon have enough posts to list it here.
