I am new to saltwater and have decided on an IM Nuvo 20 for a mixed reef setup with mostly soft and Lps corals and a pair of clowns. I am undecided if I would ever decide to add sps coral later. My question is, what are my lighting options that will be adequate?

Is an AI prime going to be enough for this tank or do I need a hydra 26, tide m, or radion xr15?

Is a low cost light like the hipargero out of the question for effectiveness?

What do you suggest?

Thanks

BRS has the C-RAY 200 on sale for $400 - I just purchased one for my new JBJ 65 build (details are posted on my build thread...)

My suggestion is getting that is “more” than your current need. This way, when you upgrade (and we almost always do), you can easily carry it over.

With that being said, a lot of people have the AI Prime on the Nuvo 20. It’s a powerful light and from what i’ve heard it covers till full 20.

This looks like a great option since it will last through any upgrades I might want to do in the future and the sale makes it the same price as my other choices. Thanks!!

I ran 2 Prime HDs on my IM 20 and grew SPS. Look at pics at the beginning of my build thread. More light is better than less.
