Dear all
Last Thursday I arrived home to a combination of a nightmare and a miracle.
When I arrived home I noticed a small amount of water in the floor in the back of my innovative marine Sr 80.
I hadn't done anything to the tank that day and no fish in the back to splash water out.
After a quick look I noticed that the silicone on the back (between the back glass and one of the sides) was loose.
After a very brief panic moment we transferred everything to a 400l pe tank we have and drained the tank.
I contact my lfs (that came to see it immediately) and have since order a new one for me and are dealing with innovative marine directly (brilliant service so far).
On closer inspection the silicone had released all the way to the bottom. It seems that the black plastic that covers de sump area held the aquarium together and stopped it from leaking too badly, which is part of the miracle. The second part was that it happened 2 days before I left for 15 days of holiday.
Since this as been so last minute I have not been able to check what may have caused it. The tank is on the original IM stand with the rubber mat. The shop as now collected the aquarium.
I will check the stand leveling when I'm back but by eye it all locked good. No visible warping or bending.
As anyone haver had problems with IM tanks?
Anything I should check apart from the stand leveling before installing the new aquarium?
Should I replace the rubber mat?
Sorry for all the questions but after coming this close to a catastrophy I'm a bit apprehensive about the new tank.
Cheers
Kim
