I want to upgrade to a 30-50g tank but cant decide between IM 50g lagoon AIO or the JBJ 45G flat panel. What is everyone's opinions on these ?

I'm in the same boat- looking to move from a IM Nuvo 20 to a Nuvo 40 or JBJ 45. I really like the quality of the IM tanks, they just work well and keep looking good over time. I've never seen the JBJ in person to see the quality. IM seems better supported for equipment (media baskets etc) plus generally being more popular means more info on the forums for setup advice, equipment fit... That might be enough to keep me with IM.

I have a 10g IM, I didn't realize how limiting it would be. But I love the look and quality of tanks.
I had a friend with a JBJ 45 with rounded edges the tank held up well, and has looked nice for years but there were a few things I noticed like the rounded edges hard to clean and glass tops didn't cover the tank completely so some fish were lost. I've been reading other peoples experiences and alot had the tanks crack after a while so thats pretty scary.

I have an IM 50 Lagoon and I’ve liked it very much. Excellent build quality. The middle rear chamber where the return pump lives can be challenging to keep clean but it’s not that big of a deal if your more diligent with your maintenance than I am.

What light do you use for it ?

Radion XR15pro Gen 4 with the diffuser. It’s not enough light spread to prevent shadowing in a 30’ wide tank though. I’m using a cheap light I got off amazon to supplement and will probably add another, they are only $55.00 and meant to be temporary. For now it works though, I only have one piece of sps and it’s a Birdsnest so not real demanding. It’s an odd tank to light so really think about how you are going to scape and stock it before choosing lights if you decide to get one. The 29.5” x 19.5“ display area is really a nice footprint for making a scape.

I recently got their new JBJ RL-10. I’m not thrilled with it and am going to return it for either a IM peninsula 14 or Waterbox 15. (Can’t decide).
My drawback on the IM is their weird back panel layout where you have a space below the first two chambers. I can’t imagine that’s easy to keep clean.
