I borrowed a friend's Tunze 9004 skimmer to try out in my IM40. I see this is a common combo and I feel silly for asking.....I can't get it to fit in the sump area anywhere. I must be doing something wrong. Can anyone give me a hand?

Hmm I wonder is @rvitko might know?

The 9004 doesn't fit the back chambers of the IM40. There are limited choices that do that work well.

Google "will it fit IM40"--- Marine Depot has a movie--from the movie it appears it's the Tunze 9001 that fits, but that's in the first chamber(overflow chamber). The movie show 3-4 skimmers that will work.
I have a IM50 Lagoon and went with a Reef Octopus Classic 90 HOB skimmer, best skimmer I've ever owned.
I also have a IM20 peninsula and have a IceCap k1 nano in the 2nd chamber on that one--it's a tight fit but works great. In looking at the specs of the chamber dimensions this will fit in the IM40 2nd chamber.

I used the 9004 for 2 weeks just hanging in the corner where it wasn't shading anything. I don't like it. Eye sore and made it loud. I miss having a sump.......but at this point, I'm going to let the tank settle into no skimmer or gfo. I'm not convinced the tiny to skimmers do much. Skimmate was thin and nitrates continue to stay around 30 with r without the skimmer. Currently at PO4 .1 and nitrates at 30.
