Hi, I realize I'm 4 months late on this comment, but after 24 years reefing, using Mj's, tunze, vortech and jebao. I just installed a gyre 150 on my 75 sps. I'm very, very picky. But this has impressed me. If it lasts at least a few years, I will put it in my amazing reeftank purchases, which is a list only 3 items long so far.

Love mine too. Just waiting for the advanced controller to come out so two gyres can have opposing flow.

I have been curious about this . I have a 6' 135g mixed reef with 2 mp 40s one on each end and it doesn't seem to be enough. I wanted to put 2 mp10s in the back middle but my glass is to thick . My overflows are about a foot in on center from each ends of the tank witch leaves kinda a dead spot in the center . Was wondering if adding a gyre right in the middle would be a good addition ?

As you see in my pic, my corals block the mp style pump. The gyre is at the top and blows over my corals, but it still cause turbulence in the center. I think with the 150 set at a higher % ( mine is around 70%) you could maybe even remove an mp or place it elsewhere.

I have been using one for a while as well. My only complaint is that it tends to pick up and drop a lot of detritus directly below it....which unfortunately for me is a hard area to clean. I can't turn it up anymore due to the size of the tank and type of coral.

u in your opinion think I need that much more or is that an overkill? Obviously by the looks of your tank you are leaps and bounds ahead of me (looks beautiful btw) . I have started getting more into sps . I have about 6 sticks now and cpl montis everything Is doing great good PE but everything is pretty close proximity to the mp's . I was almost thinking of the gyre for more central flow and maybe helping clean through the rocks since the mp's don't really hit areas like that would .

Do you think you could get away with just the gyre? It looks like you still have another power head in there. I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these for my 90, but wondering if I could get away with it by itself, with just my return.

I kept one tunze on the far end. In a tank with less growth, yes, just the gyre would work

I started with a 130 in a 56g bowfront as a trial and I was so impressed with it I now have 10 of the 150's between my 125,300, and 400 gallon aquariums and 6 with my smaller tanks. I must admit that this product amazes me to the point that I have a closet full of Vortecs collecting dust. The only downfall that I am currently having with the Gyres is that my wife who HATES my aquariums was using my laptop about an hour or so ago and my 1 year old was slapping my computer and my sent box opened up and a very angry wife came downstairs with the invoice for 16 Gyres opened and let me say that she was NOT happy and it's the sofa for me tonight. :squigglemouth:
