Just looking for some outside opinions on what my next move is : Nearly 4 years ago I moved and used random scrap wood that the previous owners left behind to make a makeshift hood. Given that you can tell I'm not much for DIY projects. Well I'm finally getting around to redoing it. The far right corner of my tank is noticeably dimmer. I use a wide variety of lights but the newest and best light is a kessil a360 which is pointed directly over my (clear) center brace. Ideally I'd probably use 4 kessils over my 5 foot tank and that option is not off the table but wondering if I can make do with what I have. I do after all have 6 different fixtures over my 5 foot tank + 1 I'm not currently using.
While I have resisted placing corals on the overflow less that pom pom xenia, it's really the only space I have to work with. There are lower light chalices, favias ect in the bottom right that you can barely see in the FTS. They could gain a bit of light but don't need to be blasted. Perhaps I should simply move the lights that are on the right side of the tank over a couple of inches? You can also see there is a slight shadow from the center brace. Again the a360x is right over it.
The tank dimensions are 60x18x24
The lights from left to right are :
Black Box - Kessil a350 - Kessil a360x - Black Box - Kessil a360we
additionally there are 2 48" T5's across the front of the tank.
The a360x is dead center like I said and the other kessils are about 11.5" apart from it on either side. The first black box is directly at the end of the left side and the one on the right is between the x and the other 360. - Instead of another kessil the other option would be one more black box on the very end of the left. The reason I have not done this yet is with the current hood there was no way to place it there and unlike the other 2 which are towards the back, this one would have to go towards the front otherwise I'd be lighting my internal overflow box.
So to sum up I can either try and space the lights better, add another kessil or add another black box. I don't have a par meter and while I probably should get one, I don't think it's essential as this is a soft coral dominated reef, I have a few sps and know enough not to place LPS somewhere where they are going to get blasted with light. Thoughts?
