Impulse buy.. I hope I don't regret this...

So I went today to my (not so)LFS to pick up a pair of beautiful Wyoming White clownfish that I saw in the QT last week.... While I was there, totally on a whim I grabbed what I thought was an orchid dottyback. No research, no clue about anything.. just saw him and said "Gimme!!" lol

I think he is actually a magenta dottyback. Based on my research, this is likely wayyy too aggressive for my tank. I plan to rehome everyone into the new 180 once I get it up and running, but for the next few weeks, the cramped 55 is all I have... I wonder if I should go get a small 20G setup tomorrow to protect my beautiful clowns...

Clowns aren’t pushovers, might be ok. A paired set of clowns is a considerable force.

Its been a couple days and I am happy to report that everyone seems happy and peaceful. The Dottyback spends most of his time hanging out in a back corner of the tank and the 2 clowns are behaving as clowns do.. they are all over the tank... I just love the personality of clowns

As an added bonus, since the new additions, my blue chromis is much more active, swimming all over the tank and always the first to zip to the top at feeding time.

Find that when I add new fish together, they tend to get along better. When I add a new fish to an establish group of fish, that’s when the fighting begins.

Wow... what a difference a year and a bit makes...

The Magenta I got way back then is still alive and happy in my tank today. He is just part of the team, never seen ANY aggression from him towards ANY fish, not once, ever!!

That Looks a lot more red, than my orchid.

Strawberries are more aggressive than orchids, from what I understand and my orchid is an absolute terror! I've tried to get it out of the tank multiple times but it burrows in a rock and it's literally impossible.

Strawberry dottybacks are stunning, and just seeing that vibrant pink makes me want to go hunt one down on purpose.

And for impulse I’d say that’s better, I mean I’ve impulse bought a couple of rarities. I reserved a Flashing tile for a week without knowing anything, I guess I had the time to research during the week so it isn’t technically impulsive (I did take that time to thoroughly research that fish and find any information I could). So it could’ve definitely been a lot worse!
