@Susan Edwards Finally got my hands on the PAR meter and did some preliminary testing on this bulb in air. (results below)
I'll be testing the Kessil A80 and the Aquaknight lights from the same height tonight and will post results here. Also will test in water at a couple different depths.

(this wont mean much until I can get some numbers on the A80 for comparison)

Sure. For your LPS and softies, PAR range of 80-200 is probably a good target. For SPS you're generally looking for 250-300 and higher.good to know! Hope it does okay with some sps as well! And some softies. I have zoas, palys, and lps and I think a couple sps. One is already gone. or mostly gone.
Feel like interpreting those readings? Greek to me <g>
I think you'll be fine. Keep us informed of your progress. Also, thanks for sharing that light. It is a gem based on the price/par.Thanks. Will go see where I put them all. most are on the mid level, some on the higher rack

Why not go with the Kingbo bulb? It will surely work better than what you're proposing and its only $30.I think I may be struggling to understand lighting well enough to try any kind of DIY lighting project. Would something like a this Indoor/outdoor PAR38 Floodlight 60w replacement (can't find the link so I will upload specs), with a Blue 13.5w LED PAR38 Floodlight, along with aluminum fixtures with clamps (short-term), work or is this not strong enough and not getting the full spectrum? (Sorry for my confusion with all this!)
