impur's biocube 29

Also I have my first corals in the tank!! I dipped 5 corals from my display in Hydroxs, then moved them into a breeding net in the biocube. This is so I can monitor them for any remaining hydroids, and hoping the net will catch any hydroids that may come free.

I will snap some pics and assign value to them later this week :)

My first coral mounted in the tank!

Its a .25" frag of Bali green slimer. Is $5 fair for this tiny frag?

Pic was taken with just the blue LEDs on sorry. Its mounted on a shell.

Well a hermit crab decided to take the shell with the green slimer attached to it. So now I need to find him and remove the frag lol

OK i got the slimer reglued. I did another dip in Hydroxs with the same frags, and also added 3 or 4 more. The Hydroxs stresses the corals a bit, so they don't look too great yet. But they are alive and hydroid free so they will come around soon.

The color is perfect, and the shimmer is amazing. I am really really happy with the LED kit. I'm not running any optics over them because the 60 degree ones that came with the kit left some darker areas, so it remains to be seen how well they grow corals. But I think they will do fine. A few corals have been under them for a couple weeks and seem to be doing fine. I'm really excited to get more corals in there, a couple fish, and let it grow in.

well its looking good man im still thinking of doing the led kit for my 12 i think i need more light and i want to do some sps so i need it

I accidentally broke this piece off in my display tank while doing some cleaning. I have had it for 4 years and it has always been brown regardless of light, flow, or params. 3 days in this biocube and its got a green sheen to it. Just unbelievable

encrusting monti I acquired in a trade over the weekend

I also have a shipment from Mr. Coral coming tomorrow that I am very excited to get.

2 Sopranos
1 Darth Maul
1 Pink Rhino
1 Er1c paly
Sunrise Tequila mille

And I found an aiptasia last night :choler: Turned off the pumps and smothered it in kalk paste. I hope I was able to cover the whole bugger.

My biocube is pretty well packed to the max at this point. Now I will only move things into this tank if they are doing really badly in my display/frag tank and I can't fix the problem there. All my SPS have encrusted onto the rocks, and new polyps are popping up on all the zoas. I am really happy about this tank.

Wow almost a month since I updated. I will get some pics this weekend. The tank is doing well, though I have noticed a few of my SPS not looking very good, ie less color and PE. So i did some testing and my alk was low, about 6.4dKH. So I added some baking soda the last couple days to give it a boost. Calcium is fine, no nitrates so thats good. I seem to be having a pretty large pH swing though, and I am hoping that is due to the lower alk. In the morning before lights on pH is around 7.9, and at the end of the day i'm getting a reading of 9.1 which is super high. Very odd, any ideas?

Great pics... Looks like the tank is doing well!

Thanks! It is doing very well, i'm pretty happy about it. Here are more pics taken today, i finally got around to my WC and cleaning the glass last night
