So I guess I am going to have to pull out of the competition. Just using my purple hornets small colony (25ish polyps) I am over the $500 mark. I set this tank up so I could dip corals from my display and get rid of hydroids I have had for years. And while that has gone really really well, the result is that I moved my most prices and most expensive corals to this tank so that they could recover and begin thriving again. I thought it might be a slower process than it has been, so I entered the contest. Its kind of a double edge sword, I want to try and win the contest but I like my corals more  In a couple weeks most of the corals in this tank will be moved again to another temporary tank as I start taking down my display and finishing off any hydroids that might have made it.

Anyway thats my story good luck to all!!!! :D

Hey could a mod change my topic to impur's Biocube 29 and move it to the tank thread section?

Ok thanks for moving my thread :D

Wow over 2 months since I updated this! I need to get some new pics of the tank. Its still doing very well :)

I have been hunting for an inTank media basket so I could use purigen and stop using the shelves that came with the biocube. After messaging about 14 people who were selling them and not getting a single response, I decided to make my own. Glad I did, saved me $50+. Here are some pics

Nicely done !

Been awhile since I updated this wow. This tank hasn't been doing very well. Had a snail hang out on my float switch for I don't know how long, at least a few hours. This caused my topoff to run the entire time. Luckily the topoff is very slow, but I still have at least 2 gallons of water on the carpet. SG was down to 1.020. I got it back to normal over the course of the day, moved corals, cleaned up. After a week or 2 of being back to normal SG levels, corals were still doing poorly. Seems my alk was very low, in the low 6s dKH. So i started daily testing and dosing by hand. Forgot how much of a pain the rear this is, but it is worth it as the corals are finally now turning the corner and opening again, getting color. Luckily my snowflakes weren't effected by any of this.

I also picked up a doser to take care of the alk dosing

Thanks, I plan to do more pics now that things are stable again.

I got the LED kit from aquastyleonline.com and highly recommend them.

Well we are getting ready to go on vacation so I was checking on all my tanks making sure things were secured, filled, etc. I checked on my float switches and noticed one had a light yellow colored pool of water on the holder. So I pulled them up and found this. I just couldn't figure out why my corals won't perk up even though my params have been rock steady for almost 3 months now. I think this was the problem.

So of course i had to scramble to fix this. I luckily had 1 brand new float switch sitting around, so i wired it up for now. I won't have the backup float in the mean time, but at least there is no rust and whatever else was going on there.

awesome tank thanks for posting! i need to see the ato in action on a 29 gallon im getting mine sometime next week! glad i can use this to refer too!! could you tell me where you got the stuff for the mold fitting? Thanks in advance!
