In and outs on tanks?

what the heck? Is this suppose to be a good thing? To have a small box behind your tank for overflows? Which means you need to keep it further away from the wall and all external plumbing. How is this better?
 
If you don't have a built-in overflow, I guess one of the only ways to have an overflow is an HOB overflow that pumps water out and back in. Most tanks that have overflows are already built-in so you shouldn't have to deal with extra space between tank and wall. If there a specific tank/product you're looking at that is keeping the tank off the wall?
 
Its not a HOB. Its a tank made by Planet. They call it and in and out.
