In dire need of some knowledge !

I hope someone can please help. I had some corals and my tank went through a brown algae stage. It's clearing up but some corals were struggling so I tried brushing them. I brushed the one that looked like it was dying and I think some flesh came off. Then I brushed a few others and they immediately turned black. My chalice is my favorite and it happened to it as well. Can anyone tell me what happened and if I can do anything to fix it? Thankyou !

When you say your "brushed" them, do you mean with a toothbrush or you used something to blow the algae off of them?

If you use the toothbrush on several corals without cleaning the brush you may be transferring toxins from one coral to another that cannot tolerate the other corals toxins, if you know what I mean.

Try an iodine dip/bath; this might help reduce any developing infection.

As mentioned above we need more info. Current parameters, age of tank, lighting being used, as well as some white light pics.

You guys are awesome giving me your feedback...I greatly appreciate it. The guy at my lfs also told me I probably transferred some toxins from the dying coral. Lesson learned !!! Fortunately my corals have amazingly had a full recovery and are back to looking beautiful. Thanks for the help !
