In line TDS meter with alarm?

Hi all.

Had an issue with hair algae the last few weeks.

Turns out my TDS crept up to 1.8.

My RO unit is automatic with my GHL ProFilux 4.

Does anyone know of a way to have an automatic alarm on the TDS to alert me when it gets too high?

You should include units of measurement. If that’s 1.8 PPM in your RO water output, that’s not high at all. Most alarms that I know of have 2ppm as the lowest set point. Here's an example.


The best way to deal with algae issues IMO is to add a few astrea snails to clean up (they work wonders and you will need fewer than you think) and up the lighting in your refugium so the chaeto can out compete the GHA. This worked well in 2 tanks for me so far. It takes some time to balance out, but it will. No need to upgrade the lighting, just run it longer, even 24/7 wont hurt.

Because me RO top up is automatic I want an alert when it creeps up.
