I have bought a few colonies from live aquaria and have been disappointed, this one was actually better looking in person than on their site. Purple growth tips with an aqua body and light pink polyps.

wow! that is beautiful! don't blame you for loving it! I am very partial to the blues/purple specimens in this hobby.

Very nice! Keep us posted on how it does.
So far so good, even after a couple of frags nicked off of it.

I am a sucker for blues and purples as well!

Nice! Is that a dragon scale mille?
I had to google it to make sure but, ya it definitely looks like a dragon scale, live aquaria didn't have a name for this one but its a beauty.

Ya I have one but not nearly as big.. Maybe 5-6 branches. Usually one of the first that visitors ask about. Your piece is awesome!

Looks like a spathulata, I am also curious on the price. They well them for so much I can't ever afford to buy them from there.

How much was it?

It was three hundred I had to sell a few frags locally to recoup some of the costs. So yes I agree they are expensive, and usually not worth it considering some of the other quality SPS you can purchase for much cheaper, this one I had to have though.

Unique corals has way better deals on maricultured colonies....did it have a rock base? If so, cut it away from the colony before the eggs hatch in your tank...lol

No rock base just the colony

Relative to who has good maricultured acro, I guess its just timing some sites have nice stuff at different time, I happen to see this one in the DD and liked it so I jumped on it

Ive gotten a maricultured colony and got red bugs on it when I got it in. All my corals go into qt when I first get them good luck... Its never a good idea to not dip any coral or not qt any fish.

I don't dip any of my corals [cross my fingers]. How do you dip yours?

Bayer advanced 5-10 mls per cup 10-15 minutes using a turkey baster, not dipping is playing Russian roulette-your luck eventually runs out and AEFW are not fun

Nice acro for sure

So I have confirmed its an acropora spathulata, these are an awesome type of sps from Australia that some people have trouble keeping for some reason. I am now on the hunt for more pieces. I actually have another on the way here that is metallic green with purple growth tips. Here are some more photos that I found ofacropora spathulata.
