So I am in need of an autofeeder since I am at work early in the morning and cannot feed until 3-4pm every day.

I have my search narrowed down to two models; the neptune AFS and the eheim autofeeder. Does anyone have experience and can give me pro/cons of each? I want to feed small pellets to my nano tank. My total display size is about 34 gallons and I currently have 5 fish; 3 chromis, 1 clown goby, and 1 tailspot blenny.

My biggest issue with feeding pellets even when I manually feed is that I am having to soak the pellets for a few minutes to keep them from going down the overflow. They are "sinking" pellets but honestly when I first put them in with the vortech pumps on feed mode they just go down the overflow. The fish maybe just get a few. Maybe I need an autofeeder and feeding ring?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I have used the Eheim for years. Battery operation and the ability to feed small amouts multiple times a day. I used to feed with small pellets and a feeding ring with no problem.

If you have an apex you can program the return to shut off and have the autofeeder wait a minute or so before dispensing then turn the pump back on after a certain period.

You need an Apex for the AFS, but it works well. It's a little noisy when running and it is relatively easy to knock it into your tank. I'm not currently running mine until I figure a way to cat proof it, which should be pretty simple.
