I've been looking around on the forums and couldn't find any details for an in-sump frag tank/frag area.
Anyone have any of these that are willing to share a pic and details on your setup?
I don't like the look of frag racks in the main display so I'm thinking about doing over a new sump with a frag compartment. Was thinking a middle compartment and using the regular flow going through the sump, will this be enough or should I put it at an end with a powerhead for flow?
Or will it be easier/better to do a small 10-15 gallon tank off to the side plumbed into the main setup?

I have a dedicated frag area in my sump. It's way easier to keep stable parameters when connected to the main display for sure. One downfall is if your display has problems, so might your frag tank.

I found that the return flow wasn't enough for sps though and added a MP10.

My sump layout is different than most, here is picture when it was new.

And running.

Thats pretty neat!

Along for the thread. I've thought about this but have found a way to pull it off yet.

How is this working for you ? I am considering doing this as well . But I am afraid of placing coral frags instead of chaeto may be a bad idea

I have been running a frag area like this for for 6 years in this tank and for 4 years in my previous tank. Rock solid performance. It always keeps acros better than my stand alone frag tank, which is only 40 gallons.
I have tried chaeto in a different area of the sump and ended up taking the chaeto out as my nutrients were just too low, but my system is a little light on the fish load - always has been.
