hey everyone, i am getting ready to purchase my skimmer. i have 150 display tank and 120 sump tank. my question is should i buy my skimmer for in sump or inline. i will have 2 inline dc return pumps if that help at all. tanks

Personal preference IMO; depending on the real estate you have and what degree the other equipment is utilizing it.

i have a 1500 square foot unfinished basement so space is not an issue. i was more thinking about ease of cleaning, and working on if its outside. wasnt sure if one will work better than the other

If you have the space outide the box, then I prefer external protein skimmer. Installed with easy access unions to pull out if needed. Some problems with internal are, difficulty in doing periodic maintenance, and dealing with encrusting creatures and coralline algae, if it's not shielded by lights of a nearby refugium. These usually 1st compromise the internal pump, and can lead to early pump failure. So IMO, if you have the space and good access then external, if you don't, then try to place prior to refugium area, and shield from light.[emoji106][emoji4]

JMO...
If you have room in your sump them I'd go with a in sump skimmer. Life happens and if a union comes lose then your going to a have a big mess with an external . Only if I was limited for space in my sump would I go with an external skimmer.
