So I have tried Tunze 9012 skimmer which totally left me frustrated after 1 month tank spray, microbubbles. and NO skimmate after 1 month. Overpriced Waste of My hard earned CASH. Tried Hang on tank skimmers don t like the chance of overflow. Unable to use sump due to apartment regulations and no stand access. So Either I go skimmerless on my 125 aqueon Non drilled tank or Has anybo dy been successful with an in tank skimmer by utilizing an in sump model? Ideas and Photos PLEASE!

Have you tried a HOB model?

Use the reef octopus 1000 its great and has never overflowed.

I used an autoaqua sensor inside the cup of my hob ato. Whenever the skimmer decided to go crazy with foam the sensor would trigger and turn off the skimmer. I used an Aquamaxx 1.5 hob.

People either love or hate Tunzes, I love ‘em but they are primitive and do take some work to get dialed in just right…

+1 on the octopus, I also really like aquamaxx skimmers. Get something with adjustability features and will make your life dialing it in much easier

Had this skimmer years ago on another tank sadly my experience was not as good as yours, Have 30 years in saltwater not lucky with skimmers lately,

I'm gonna suggest the aquamaxx hob ones. My 1st skimmer was the hob car dual I think lol. Cpr2?
Anyway.
I would actually recommend the hob refugium skimmer combo. I think aquamaxx has one if your going non drilled. Non aio.

Use a hang on with a skim guard if it starts to overflow the power is cut.

I will check out , Thanks

Have You actually Had experience with it or it just looKs good?
Yea I don't use it on a skimmer I use it as a power cut for a 1% water change auto set up that if it continually pulls water from my display it will kill the power to the pumps. I have tested it and it killed the power so does what it says on the tin

I have no experience with skimmers so you could try to run the tank without a skimmer? My tank is running for 8 or so months without one. And I have to say, It's doing very well. I do a water change every week and my nutrients are fine. I'm even on the low side for N03 and P04 and zero N02 or ammonia. the water is very clear and from time to time I use a surface skimmer when I do maintenance. Might be an option for you?

I got HOB 1.5. IIRC they have a drain port on the cup that can be turned to drain back into the skimmer so an overflow is not likely. Worst case it will just push the skimmate back into the skimmer/tank. Plus all the aquamaxx HoB skimmers I’ve had are pure workhorses. A HOB 1.5 with a cup sensor would be my choice.

Will these fit the aquamax skimmers on a 125 gallon aqueon tank?
