Proper ventilation goes a long way too. Think along the lines of exhaust fans moving air outside.

We use a lot of FRP sheet (on top of green board) in installations as well.

Yeah they patch through to the sump room then to the Apex and to 3 separate GFCI circuits to the room.

Man id be so worried about salt hetting in there from evaporated water

Doesn't seem to be an issue, but if I had some child proof cover things I'd slap them in the empties

I would Definitely.........get some outdoor electrical covers/box. They reduce the amount of water etc., that can enter the box.
I put 6 of them around the house for our xmas display's.

Please,..... check into these, we all would hate to here that you or the inhabintats were shocked !

These are what I use. They have cutouts for the cord and are clear to view.
Make sure your outlets are quality GFCI's.

This way, problems are well reduced.

Any hardware /big box store should have this type. I use the metal ones outside for durability, after my Boxer dog ran into one shattering it. :mad: lol....

Im running 3 20 amp GFCI breakers at the panel. The fuge light cord did fall in the sump once and kicked right off everyone was fine

I use a 2 part epoxy pool paint with great results. I use it to protect everything in my cabinet and fish room. It is also high gloss for reflection and easy clean up. Comes in many colors and you can buy it in quarts

Just a thought, haven't read if anybody has suggested it yet. But why not tack up the water resistant plastic sheet they use under the siding on houses. Run it up a few feet in every direction from the tank and then tack it under the moulding surrounding the display side of the tank. Replacing moulding is easier than drywall

The last time I did nothing but paint, and the salt spray ate up several inch's around the tank, but also the exposed edges.

I thought of acrylic sheet, but isn't their something cheaper and/or better or some type of real tough wall paper ?

What about flashing tape around the exposed areas near the tank? I actually need to deal with this myself. Just cut out the hole for my in wall over the weekend.

OK, This one is definitely out of the box...Uhm, I mean "Out of the Tank".
It sounds weird but definitely works AND is VERY CHEAP...wait for it..."Polish" your tank's surrounding walls and any areas that you want to protect with (Drum Roll)...PETROLIUM JELLY a/k/a Vaseline. It will require clean up and reapplies every few months (due to dirt & dust build up), but I swear by the lord Titan it works like a charm. It is water proof and not harmful to the surface/paint and acts as a barrier between the walls and salt build up.

I used water resistant drywall. Then I took 3mm plastic and wrapped everything that my tank will be around to create a vapor barrier. Since my tank is in the wall as well and will be framed with 3.5" trim I took and wrapped the plastic over the drywall 3" to make sure nothing can get into it as well. I then FRP'd everything in my fish tank room. There was a 1/2" gap between the tank and the drywall on the top so to keep any moister from getting out of my fish room I sealed that 1/2" gap with foam. I have a fan that runs every now and then and a dehumidifier set to 50% in my fish room. Zero problems yet
