Good morning everyone! This is officially my post here since I have joined. My wife and I are currently closing on our new house today. I currently have a 75 gallon corner flow tank. In the new house the wife has given me permission to create a fish room with an in wall tank. I was wondering what size tank does everyone recommend? I'm not looking for anything crazy but I think my current tank that I have would look on the smaller side. Sadly I don't know the room size right now and we won't be moving in untill next Friday when the sellers new house is finished. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum! I would recommend something along the lines of 200-250 gallons, I feel an in-wall tank smaller than that would just be underwhelming. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Good luck and God bless!

Welcome! The answer to this question is totally dependent upon the size of the wall. I just did an in wall 4ft 120g because the wall it was going into was only ~5ft. If you can, maybe a 6ft tank that's lower or something (so like a 125g). That 6ft is going to open you up to basically any fish.

I agree, the tank should be atleast 6-8 feet long if possible given the room size. I would suggest a 96" x 30-36" x however high you would like it to be comfort wise. This would give you a TON of options livestock and aquascape wise and be more of a long term setup..

6' if you have the wall space. (8' if you have the space in a wall and on a credit card AND the mrs. isn't paying close attention)
don't be afraid to go tall. (30" deep)
welcome to the show.

I agree with this. I have a 29 gallon in a wall since that is all that would fit in the space;).

I think bigger the better. I would size based on the wall and make it wide (front to back) to take advantage of the other room. Measure between two parts of the wall you don't want to cut and make it that big with enough room for powerhead etc..

I'm hoping she doesn't pay much attention to price tags for this upgrade. She already knows things are expensive due to haveing the 75 gallon but also knows that if she doesn't ask then she doesn't have to get mad.

Hi a 200 is a perfect size. I did an In wall build in living room. U can see it in my build thread thx

My tank is 6' x 30" wide and 27" high with external overflow, so no boxes in the tank. It is in our family room and as you come down the stairs you can see right in the 30" side. The panels above the tank on the front and side are removeable so access is from front and side the back is a fish room. For a wide tank I think you need access from front and back this works great for me.
