Hello! New here and have a quick question on my water at home. Bought an RODI unit from bull reef supply. It has a TDS meter on it and my incoming water is at 1 ppm and leaves the machine at 0 ppm is there really a need to use RODI at that point? Always drink straight unfiltered water and it’s honestly the best tasting water I’ve ever had…. Have our own well so not chlorinated or anything…. Would rather bypass the RODI just to save time, but don’t want to take shortcuts either… thanks!!

I believe, as the posters above me suspect, that the "incoming" reading is the tds of the water going into the di and not the tds of your source water.

Even if your source water is 1tds (which is very very unlikely) I'd still recommend using a rodi filter. You never know when something will change and the purity of your source water will change. I also looked at one of the rodi filters on the BRS website and it said the meter was to know the tds before and after the di.

Thanks guys! That makes total sense only the di portion having 1 tds going in…. Will keep on using the RODI…. Being from the ground I figured something wasn’t right! Sure would be nice not having to wait on that unit sometimes, but definitely don’t want anything undesirable in my tank either! Thanks!!! New to it all and loving the hobby so far!

I have a BRS RODI system. The water leaves the reverse osmosis filter at 2, It leaves the Deionization Resin at 0. Sometimes I get lucky and get 1 leaving the RO filter. You probably have a pretty low TDS water source. Mine isn’t terrible but it isn’t great either. My water source is about 120 tds.

I do not know if this has anything to do with TDS or not. Before I added a DI filter my water was 5 TDS coming out. Now it is zero. Now see what my original
