Increase nitrate but not phosphate

Has anyone found a way to increase nitrate without adding too much phosphate like through feeding? My nitrate is 0 no matter how much I feed and if I feed more, my phosphate keeps rising. I run biopllets which pretty strips off nitrate. Thanks for any info!

Buy no3 supplement and add it into aquarium. That's how I increased what level I wanted to.

Here is a better calculator: http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/calculator.htm

For instance, I dose the Potassium Nitrate using the Stump Remover you can find at lowes:

50 gal of water to dose

400ml RODI water + 247 grams of Potassium Nitrate (Stump remover) = 2 ppm Nitrate per 1mL of solution

Thank you Randy for this post.
So urea salts may be a buildup issue in the tank?
I have been dosing flourish nitrogen to raise my no3
If what you say is correct dosing amino acids is better than nitrate introduction?

FWIW, urea is a neutral molecule (not a salt). If it is added to a reef tank, you will certainly generate bacteria that consume it, but corals and the zoox in them may not (I just don't know, but it seems a bit unlikely).

Your knowledge is what I have been learning off of.

this is a popular method for raising nitrates as well.

i had a poor rate of nitrate conversion introducing AA. however more than enough carbon was sent in to the system.

some good info in this thread.

I dose amino acid and feed aggressively, which increases both nitrate and phosphate and boosts algae grow. I got a bottle of urea nitrate and start doing 4ml each day (2ml in the morning and 2ml at nigh) to 200g. My plan was to feed corals and kill phosphate at the same time.
So far so good, my nitrate is detectable now and I see polyps in the bleaching acro.

glad it is working out. i just couldnt get nitrates to get past 2 with AA only.

keep it up. literally ;)
