In my tank I currently have a 1.5" bulkhead for my drain. Would using an adaptor to increase it to 2" cause any issues? Extra noise? Or would this actually be beneficial?

I've read somewhere before that the increased air in the larger size plumbing would be better. Also, if any critters end up in there there is a larger passage, especially in the bends. I'm not to good with physics so if someone can drop there 2 cents ill greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Wouldn't hurt, but it's not gonna do anything for the typical issues you'd run into like noise and bubbles.

Not unless you go really big on the PVC....doesn't make sense to do that though IMO. Make something smaller and purpose-built in the sump to handle bubbles. Handle noise by reducing flow when possible.

Do you have animals that are actually in danger of getting into your drain plumbing now?
