indicator coral or tank inhabitant

My tank has been running for almost 4 months which is incredibly young
I've lost 3 corals. A green slimer frag, a red monti cap, and a torch.
now, the torch I lost due to poly-clad flatworms. it was heavily infested, even after weekly dips and scrapings. coral just couldn't take it any longer

The slimer browned out badly and ended up STNing.
The Monti paled and has 0 new growth.

Other acros that I have, which are supposedly more difficult to keep have great coloration and PE.
I have two Clams that look amazing, two other torches look fantastic, one of which is splitting it's head.

I'm curious what people have in their tanks that you keep an eye on to see if something may be wrong in your tank? I was using the slimers this whole time since they were "easier" to keep. they browned, STN'd and died, yet other more difficult acros/milles look perfect.

Personally, I learned a long time ago to keep an eye on everything. As you can see from your own post, corals don't care how their genus or species is rated by humans; it's not that difficult to find individuals that are more (or less) sensitive than the wide-spread "norm". The same can also be said of fish and inverts.

curious what other say! i am loosing corals once in the while too. no idea what is happening! i really think i should start new... have to admit that didn’t dip few times! always learn!

Sometimes the coral is just not healthy when you get it.

I cannot say much, I must have lost 50 corals trying to get my tank to where it is now.

See that’s the thing. The frags of slimer and Monti were from a very healthy colonies at my LFS. Caught myself trying to chase numbers for a “possible” correction for the monti and slimer, yet every other tank inhabitant looks perfectly fine. Decided to leave everything alone, perhaps red monti and green slimer just aren’t for my tank.
