Indo Coral Ban Lifted?

I just read thru this entire thread and learned nothing substantial. Other than people don’t like torch prices or my “friend” has an order on the way etc....we’ve heard this all before. The fact is Torches won’t flood the market and asd will never sell them for $5 a head even if they reopen Indo. Until someone actually receives a confirmed order, this is all hearsay and I can’t believe reef2reef sent out an email plugging this thread.

Also, that giant elegance on the right is bananas and I love it. How long have you had it?

The little one I’ve had a month or so, the one on the right about 9 months

And I hear you! I have the Walt Disneys and other named stuff too..... I ultimately buy what pleases my eye. Nice tank by the way!

So.... My thoughts.

1. The prices of the good stuff aren't going to move much. It's all aquacultured at this point and people would rather purchase stuff they know won't color shift or melt in their tanks. Back when bounce mushrooms were the rage those coral farmers in Indo saw us paying thousands and raised their prices too simply asking for their slice of the pie. If you think that after 2 years of not getting paid these farmers are going to charge importers the same price for torches that they are on here seeing people charge a grand for as they did back when those were a dime a dozen you are mistaken.

2. It is looking good for Indo opening back up at least for Mariculture, possibly not for wild harvested colonies. I have a friend who is a very large importer and have had the conversation with him recently. No, Indo is not open. It is looking very promising that it will open soon, but there are no health certificates issued and nothing leaving the country so no it is not open.

Technically I’m not judging them, I’m laughing at them.

The ole sayings still hold true. “To each their own.”, and “A fool and his money are soon parted.”

Okay, let’s be friends.

Maybe people will stop paying 500 for a torch
I wouldn't count on it. At least until they become EXTREMELY easy to get and there is an abundance of them. They will still be listed at $300+ a head and people will still pay it.

Was pukani rock sourced from Indonesia or elsewhere? I know it became unavailable shortly around the time of the Indo ban. I'm excited for better and cheaper Euphyllia availability, but also to hopefully get some pukani again.

Sooooo how much for a head ? ;Hurting

Hopefully they will open soon so I can trade some other ones hehe.

Things may not get that much cheaper. If I’m the Indo people I’m charging more than I used to knowing that it might be extremely limited. It would be like the grocery stores charging .35/gal for milk. Why? People are now used to paying higher prices.
If I’m the wholesalers too, even if Indo does t charge more, they have the ability to make more money. I’m preparing for the worst and hoping for the best

Torches will always command their price. If you guys think the prices will drop to 10 per head for an indo gold or aussie good luck. Sucks but it's the nature of the beast
.

Agreed, this has been about as accurate as the guy from Pacific East was when he used to have threads detailing all of his supposed insider knowledge about Indo reopening a year or more ago. At least the fits he threw when anyone pointed out that none of his prognostications ever came to pass were very entertaining (even if the show ended up getting the thread closed), here we got nothing!
