So as we all know Indo has been shout down for a while now, and we are running out of our Indo corals fast here. Has anyone given any thought as to how this is going to affect us If they do not come back online. Its a hard one to think about being that most of the corals that we love so much come form Indo, designer Torches being one of the top ones. So where do we go from here, How is this ging to affect us and the hobby we all love so much.

Reef keeping today is expensive but I imagine in the future we’ll look back and say “now” was cheap and we had a lot more choices.

The reality is the environmental groups have more blind followers and hoarded of cash. It’s a battle that logic and even black and white facts will not win out.

Times are a changin......

Environmental groups are made up of mostly scientists and scholars. They are more aware of environmentally changes due to human activities. To say they are blind is IGNORANCE at best.
Let ask ourselves, when is the last time any of us read a scientific publication? When is the last time we sit down and research the topic global climate change or reef loss in the great barrier reef? The fact is people form their opinions base on what they heard on their favorite news outlets rather than fact they learn from their research.
Regarding INDO, I hope they are able to correct whatever situation that result in the ban. Maybe in the future we can collect in the region again. In the meantime, I'm still a happy reefer without corals coming out of INDO. If you feel like you must have those special corals from that region, you are just being selfish. It ain't about you, it's about reefing.

Environmental groups are made up of whoever makes them, there us no requirement to be a scientist. I regularly read scientific papers, but those papers aren't the only good source if information out there. As for climate change when the concept of global warming first came out the scientists would not share their research data for proper peer review. Just because it comes from a scientist and is in popular media doesn't mean it's true. The world is not flat no matter how many people see it that way and how much money going into the research of it.

Havent seen any slowdown from any of the retailers online at all. Most of them seem to have more stock than ever coming in.

The scientists are paid by “blind followers” who make their donations to the environmental groups. The strength of these groups comes from their money and their massive donar lists that are not scholars or scientists. I’m not saying scientists are blind and I am not saying human activity is not destructive. I am saying you could prove otherwise in many specific cases and it would never matter to those in these groups.

This is true. No slow down anywhere. One LFS told me a month he will not be able to get more of the one I was buying. A week later he got a bunch more.

That is a good point. Research can say or not say whatever the $$ wants it to basically.

If we use just the argument of scientists and scholars agree.... we should all be frozen right now. In the 70’s the scientific community was in agreement we were seeing the next coming of the next ice age.

I’m not trying to discredit the idea of global warming, but it IS a fact that the scientific community has been wrong before even when that community was very much in agreement on something.
