Looks like the Article was from March.
I know there has been talk to get some mariculture corals out but that was several months ago too. it has been really quiet lately on all fronts.
Honestly I think it is done over there at this point. I would bet they are closer to banning fish exports now than bring back coral exports.

It's my understanding that even ppl close to the ban in Indonesia, dont even know What The French is going on.

My opinion is there is no clearly defined FigureHead taking control.

Too many Ministers, Directors all not knowing who's doing what. Like the article said MILLIONS of dollars are being wasted in opportunity losses with an unorganized Government in chaos

I'm sure there's a Gray/Black market but US Vendors won't touch that with a 10ft pole

Been wondering what is happening with this ban lifted several months ago. It would Increase selection of coral and drive down pricing a bit.

I still think prices will still be high not as high as they are now maybe but will never be as cheap as it once was. If it opens they are not stupid they see how high indo pieces are going for now so i don’t expect much.change either way to be honest

Suzi or what ever her name was that started the whole ban was voted out of office. So when the new politician takes charge will be the best chance for things to get moving again in my opinion

Their government is all about agriculturalism and building sustainable infrastructure that ensures its precious natural resources aren't irresponsibly exploited. It seems like they're on their way with coral aquaculture facilities popping up.

Absolutely!!!!

Now that the supply chain has gotten use to certain prices, they are NOT going to arbitrarily reduce prices bc theres now more supply.

Laughable to even think that. You think Auto Manufacturers would drop the price of cars just bc the price of steel was reduced by half? Laughable

The ONLY benefit to us, the consumer, will be .ore supply, more variety.... there is NO way prices will fall IMO

Couldn't agree more....

I believe this is the correct way to supply us reefers with corals and leave natural reefs alone.

I'm shocked that some Multimillion dollar company hasn't built an agricultural coral farm in Florida just a 1/2mile off the Gulf of Mexico where they could pump fresh seawater in and out.... and use Floridas natural Sun.

I would totally support an agricultural farm in Florida.... to keep our hands out of natural reefs.... AND! it would be a domestic product with j.o.b.s

I just want to add that I can still get indo corals. They say they’re from Australia - and they could be - but does Australia also have indo torches? Perhaps. Maybe. Or this is just a ploy to elevate prices. I can’t help but wonder why so many euphyllia keep coming through.

First off RB has been wrong on Indonesia every time.

If they were so into mariculture why was it shutdown with the rest too?

This ban is all about one crazy person period: Susi Pudjiastuti.. They had mariculture for along time, check out the thread in DR Macs forum and his farm was shut down there.

More than likely brought out illegally. I've seen what appeared to be indo torches offered for sale. Dealer said he was told they were from somewhere other than indo, can't remember where, but I do know it wasn't Australia.

I know for sure that some of what I got was from the Philippines. Export is also illegal there. And the Philippines is close to Indonesia. But I know these pieces are from the ocean because they’re huge and have barnacles on them. Definitely not aquacultured pieces.
