Indoor CO2 and pH

Does this explain why I had a fairly large (.5) ph drop when I woke up New Years day? I had around 15 people at my house. Tank was also cloudy, and a film was on my filter sponge, but cleared up by the following day. At first I thought someone poured something in the tank but no other issues.
 
I decided to set up a BRS CO2 scrubber, it was super easy. Bumped my pH up by about 0.15:

I did the same and saw immediate results. There was one side effect though...air intake into my skimmer was reduced causing it to skim wetter than I like. I've removed it temporarily until I can come up with a fix.

So far I have not seen this, but I was using the exact same diameter tube from the reactor as was originally feeding the skimming, and I kept it as short as possible.
