Info needed on large rimless glass tank

Some of you saw my thread on the tank ordeal I just went through. So looking for a another tank I found an 89 x 25.5W x 30H rimless glass tank. Made out of 3/4" glass. No bracing on top at all.

Is this a solid tank or going to pop???

That is a really tall tank, no bracing on top at all. I would need to see there past work and customer feedback of tanks equal size.

When I was tank shopping no manufacturer will make a rimless taller than 24". There's probably a reason for that.

I don't think I would want that tank in my house, not without eurobracing. Rimless that large are sketchy. That's a lot of water!

30" deep is a no go in my book. My 27.5" deep tank always makes me wish it was 24" deep when I try and reach something in the sand. If it's farther than about 1/3 rd of the way back, I have to get the grabbers or stick my face and head in the water. (My light is too low to do this effectively )

It hurts my back to work on my tank for long periods of time, I have a folding painting platform that I can stand on (I am 5'7") so I'm at the right height, but it is uncomfortable to work in tanks that deep. You will be in there a lot, especially in the beginning! Depending on the stand height, that 6" more than the 24" really adds up, you have to remember you have to reach over the front side before you can reach down into the tank. At a certain height access without using specialty scaffolding becomes limited or impossible.

Theres a guy on craigslist here selling a custom 36"X36"x36" acrylic cube. It's made with 2" acrylic (obviously not well thought out). Comes with a stand and sump. In the pic there's someone standing in the room with it. There is no way you can get into the tank, let alone put anything in it without just dropping it from an 6' ladder on to the bottom, or just pitching it like a basketball from the floor. (Probably why he chose 2" acrylic to use).
The tank probably weighs 1000lbs with no water in it lol.

Just because someone made it, doesn't mean it's a good idea!

I would agree 30" deep would be a no go for me. 30" that long on a rimless seems like a lot but 3/4" glass is dang thick and strong. I would be interested in what an expert in aquarium building would say.

No on a tank that tall. Besides maintenance issues that everyone has posted. Lighting a tank that deep can be a real challenge. Coral placement will also be interesting.

I spoke with the builder. Tank will have an aluminum frame around the bottom. All panels are 3/4". They have built similar size and comes with lifetime warrantee.

That's an atractive warranty if they stand behind it! That's the real catch in this industry.

I've only been involved in aquariums for nearly 30 years (there were some breaks of time in there), most aquarium companies have come and gone. I wouldn't "hold my breath" on anyone's warranty in this industry. I certainly wouldn't bet on them being around for the length of my lifetime. (If that ends up being a long time, never can tell).

That being said I would be interested to know the buider, I might be in the frag tank market.

Custom Aquariums in Wisconsin. If the tank were to fail I certainly would not trust another from them. But if they are willing to stand behind it thats good. I can afford to buy another tank. I don't want my home destroyed!
