I was just wondering if getting a bubble tip anemone would be a good thing to get. I really enjoy the color they have and I'd love to see my clowns host in it. What would be the care requirements of a bubble tip? For some more info, I have a 75-gallon acrylic with 2 clowns, a yellow tang, and 2 mandarin dragonets.

People will want to know your tank parameters...... which is silly, because whatever they are "today" doesn't mean anything really..... People will want to know how "Old" your tank is...... again, how stable are your parameters, and what do you do to keep them that way?

Do your tank parameters stay very stable?
What light(s) do you have?

Pretty much all you gotta do.... you need to provide decent flow, light, and stable parameters. No need to feed, worry about placement etc.... just cover any powerhead etc. that can suck it up.

EDIT: Just saw that you have a tank set up for about 4 months, but have rocks etc. from your prior tank, so I'm guessing you didn't have to cycle during that time etc....

Mars Aqua 300w.....

You have plenty of light.... aside from being concerned that you have corals currently having issues, you should be good to go for a BTA

I do a religious 25% water change on my tank weekly, and from this, I remove anything they could possibly change my parameters. I have had my tank running for about 5 months now and nothing has gone wrong. I recently had an issue with my lights being too low so today I was able to raise them to a better position, I have a mars aqua 300watt light over my tank. I don't know if it'd make much of a difference, but I don't have a skimmer. I had one, but it broke on me about a month ago and I am trying to get my parents to get me a new one. I am just curious about what other people have experience when keeping a bubble tip because my main goal is to make this tank catch people's eyes when they enter my house. I mean the tank is the wall so if I can bring more color and movement I'd be happy :)

Seems like your good to go.
The anemone may or may never host the clowns.

yeah no guarantee on the host. my false perc female just started to sleep in my BTA. just one night she chose to sleep in the anemone now every night I can see her in it. during the day the palythoas are her go to spot. maroon clowns are a much better fit for BTAs
just happened last week actually

if you are worried about keeping anemones alive you can always get some torch/frogspawn corals, elegance, and other flashy corals. now I do recommend feeding the anemones to start them once a week or a month using frozen krill cut in 3rds maybe give it one third to start its a very small chunk of meat but don't worry its enough, changing your carbon regularly is important, and turn off your pumps after acclimation. you can put the nem in the spot you think is best while the pumps are off and it will move where it wants. they love to sink their foot deep into a rock, so makesure you place the nem in an area where the foot can attach. be mindful of deep crevices; the nem can fall [climb too deep] and you may not see them again be sure to post a thread if he disappears. also your led lights can be powerful so slowly acclimate the nem to the led lights by reducing the overall intensity of your led's. anyways nems are pretty forgiving, just be sure to ask about any issues you are dealing with.

I picked up a great looking green bubble tip at my local fish store and I made sure its foot wasn't damaged. I let it drip acclimate for an hour then placed it in a crevice I had between my rocks. My lights are at a low intensity and I will slowly ramp it up higher. I have had great success with my hammer coral so if you say this is similar then it'll be a fun time. I also recently got a frogspawn and it seems to be doing well. I'll post a picture of them anemone so you can see it.

Here is a picture on the new anemone and my hammer and frogspawn.

Good looking anemone.
Don't listen to the haters, I have had anemones for a few years and I took bad advice at first.. research and articles are better then some advice you get from inexperienced people here that have not had a tank more then a few months.

Sorry.. got off on a tangent..lol
Anyway.. you might see the anemone stress a little due to your lighting vs the one at the LFS. If that happens.. cut a 7x7 inch piece of cardboard and shad the anemone. Every day or too move it a little like the cloud cover is leaving... (If you have an opening top tank with hanging light.
Also spot feed your anemone every few days. I feed every 4th day, and they seem happy.

After a couple of hours in the tank, the Anemone has retreated into the crevice is that normal?

I would not look at the tank for a couple of days...... you'll over-think everything it does..... it will be fine. Unlike corals, it will find the best flow/light for it...... it will be fine.

My anemone looked to be on deaths door for literally 4 months. LPS, SPS, softies all grew well in the tank but my anemone literally looked like a hockey puck.

It took FOREVER to settle into the tank but once it adjusted its thrived. Just be patient and let it do it’s thing, don’t try to move it.

im not worried about your anemone at all I am sure he will do great. idk about the cardboard idea, all I know its good to acclimate your anemone to the light. good job on that part and overall they are pretty forgiving and they don't normally hide any issues from you. love the reef keep up the good work.

My anemone as gone deep in the crevice and the only way I can see it is if I lift up a small rock. Mine looks similar to your first picture right now. If you hadn’t sent a picture of your anemone I’d probably be freaking out right now

Just let it ride it out. Best of luck.

So after a couple of hours, the anemone has moved way out of its cave and now it looks amazing. This anemone is going to give me a heart attack. I love the color and it seems to be moving around the tank now. I made sure to put a screen over my powerhead to prevent it from committing suicide. Thanks for the help everyone! I think this anemone is going to make its way up to my top 5 saltwater corals (although anemones aren't corals) :)
