Initial Cleaning of Mixing Station Containers

I bought 2x 44 gallon brute cans from Home Depot. Unfortunately, they were stored outside and have a large amount of dirt/dust on them and one may have even had a dead animal in it (thought to tell what it was)

My question is, besides taking them outside and giving them a good spray down with the hose, what else should I clean them with? Acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide? Also, should I just use a rag or sponge to wipe them down or let the solution sit and soak in the bins. Trying to make sure they are ready to go in order to mix up some high quality water and not get off to a bad start.

Bleach and a thorough rinse and let fully dry

Mine were the same. Used intitially, then sat in my garage for a couple months before I used them again.

Found a dead squirrel in one, and my wife used one as a place to hold dirt while she potted plants in the spring. I simply washed them out with water and bleach, let them sit for a couple days to dry, then used them. Haven't had an issue in the 2 years I've been using them.
