Injury or pest ID

Noticed this cut on my leather. Looks like an injury but how? Anyone have a clue? I am hoping it is not a pest or worse. Thank you in advance.

Def looks like somethings in it...try plucking it out...

It was leaning on a rock but that is not unusual .

Polys and Kenya - almost looks like a piece of Kenya stuck in there? Will get tweezers and remove before it grows...
