Inkbird Heater Controller Compatibility

I have gone through 2 Inkbird heater controllers and both of them don’t give power to my heater when I use the power strip that is connected to the controller. Are they not compatible with Aqueon heaters? I have a 50w adjustable Aqueon heater but I plan on getting a BRS 100-200w titanium heater. Would a 200w be fine in a 32g?

If you are, I am running two. It’s nothing special, just turns on the power to the heater “outlet” when it dropped below the preset temp. Whatever you plug into it will turn on.

Yea, sounds like it’s defective. I would just attach a light to it, pull the temp gauge out of the water and see if it turns on the light. Then you’ll know it’s not your heater. Don’t know much about the wifi one, I don’t have one.

I think a 200w heater is to large for 32g tank. 200w could cook a 32g tank in short order.

Maybe I just don’t know enough, but why dose it matter? I have a 300w in my 32 Biocube.... it just turns off at 79. I also have a 500w in my 60g that also turns off at 79.

Any heater will cook any tank if you set it to 95.

Understood, your call. I use a 150w in my 90gal, it does fine and if controller failure, won’t cook system to fast. I prefer to under size heaters as another form of risk management.

To each their own. Definitely more than one way to skin a cat.

I have always been scared of my tank getting too low. Accidentally left a window open at night a few months ago and was thankful for the larger heater. Also my house is never at 79 degrees, it stays around 62 in the winter and 70 in the summer.

I also have two fail safe, my heater is set to 79 and my InkBird is set to 79. If my heater just wants to go for it, the InkBird will shut it off. If my InkBird just stays stuck on “on” my heater will shut off.
