Is there anyway of getting tighter timings from the new inkbird?
I must be the only one the notices the temp on the device takes forever to measure the temp and by that time the tamp is out of my range.
It's set to come on at 77.5 and off at 78
My house is set at 70

I have another inkbird would runing 2 be the way to go? If I did that how would I set them up?
Or get another controller like a eb4?
 
I went ahead and ordered the Helio controller as this inkbird is not good.
@INKBIRD_official why does it take so long for the 306a wifi to update the temperatue?
This is giving me a 2 degree swing at minimum all because the temp is not update in real time

it is the 'ds1' setting. I believe that it is settable to 1 at minimum. I think what @BeanAnimal is alluding to, is that if you have it set to 77.5, and ds1 is 1, that means that it is doing exactly what you programmed it to do and turning on at 76.5. it will turn on when 1 degree below set point and off when 1 degree above. the hysteresis value is oft times referred to in the HVAC world as temperature delta or 'Td'. all thermostats have one. it prevents device short cycling.

Okay I have to find this setting as its not on the app so I will look at the machine
 
Not sure what the time scale is here, but maybe your heater is rather powerful and heating the water quickly - maybe a smaller heater that will heat the water slowly will give a better result?

This unit does not have a ds1 setting
 
I’m pretty confident the 306A won’t have a hysteresis setting because you set both an on and off temperature, at least mine doesn’t. The hysteresis is basically the difference between those two numbers.
My 306A is set to 78-78.5 and I get a swing of up to 1.5 degrees

Does it take your unit awhile to measure the current temp? That is what is driving me nuts as I want to calibrate it.

This may sound stupid but I’m not sure how to tell. I don’t know what to base how quickly it should be changing off of. I can use my apex but then I’m just making the assumption the apex is right. I can look and see how quickly the inkbird reading goes down when the heater turns off, but I can’t say for a fact how long it actually took for my tank temperature to drop.
I can say I just checked and my apex and inkbird have the exact same reading currently. I’d be more than happy to check it multiple times and see if they continue to match. I also do know that the inkbird will read higher than the max temperature before it begins decreasing. I am not sure if that could be because of residual heat from the heater (although I doubt it’s thermal mass is very much).
 
Lower the differential value depending on what unit it would be for heating. I think you can lower it to 1.0 or 1.3 depending on model.
 
Just gonna try to make it work till Friday when the Helio controller comes in.
Sorry @INKBIRD_official as I was happy with the old way the controllers where set up but this new way of having the temp reading so slow is not good.
 
I don't have a InkBird and use my controller to control my 2 heater but it has been since April that one has turned on. Heater one is set to turn on at 77.4 and turn off at 77.6. That is the minimum Hysteresis that is allowed. Heater 2 is the same except for the turn on is at 77.3. Otherwise they have the same settings. The temp control that get the most work on mine is the evaporative cooling fans. Those are set to turn on at 78.1 and turn off at 77.9. Below the first graph is temp for a year's time. The second graph is the temp for the last few days. In the second graph only the cooling fans were on since the temp never drops low enough for the heaters to come on. The heaters and cooling fans are in the sump and so are the temp sensors but if the return pump is off neither the heaters or cooling fans will come on. So there were a few times during the year where the return pump was off. Some were to clean the pump so it was off for an extended period.

Ok I get the issue now. When I look at my inkbird chart it only shows a reading every 15 minutes so I’d guess it does go that long between readings.
 
My INKBIRD is set exactly like yours and has been solid for 5 plus years now.
Small variations in temp have never caused me any grief.

The dual probes were an excellent idea IMM.

So every 15 minutes then as that makes me feel somewhat better. I just dont understand as my old one was dead on with my Apex.
My temp is doing about a 2.5 degree variation as we had bad power outages here in east Tennessee thus it kept knocking the power out every hour or so
