I can't seem to find an answer to this. I have an Inkbird ITC-308 temp controller, and let's just say the probe could be a bit more secure. I have the low temp value at 74, so my question is: if the probe falls out of the tank and is in room temp air (~70), will it autoshutoff since it hit the low temp value, or will it leave the heater on?

Thanks!

it sounds like it will still stay on but if its out side the range it will give an alarm. but some one will have to be there to hear it. so you should secure the probe in a manner that's impossible to fall out on accident.

it sounds like your low value is for the alarm
id set temperature value t 78f or what you want to run the tank at.
set the heating differential to 1 degree
if you want a fan controlled by this i 'd probably set cooling differential to 2f

if you have an apex its not a bad idea to plug into the energy bar for redundancy. if you don't have an apex a second controller can still be a cheap option for redundancy. set the second controller 1-2degrees higher than the other.

I imagine you're right. Thanks.

I have the WiFi version, so the alarm is a little more valuable to me (unless it goes off in the middle of the night and I don't hear it). A backup to my backup certainly couldn't hurt. Then again, the heater wouldn't heat above about the 80 that it's set to, so it should be okay enough.

Appreciate the reply. I didn't think about the heater thermostat until just now, so I guess it's less of a risk than I had thought haha
