Please understand that the DFS-100 is a new configuration of an existing design. One of its improvements for coral fragging use is that it has a plastic table instead of a metal table, which is crucial. When your order came in we thought that we would be able to ship it the 18th.

But at this point what I know is that we have shipped all the plastic tables we had, and the injection molder is reporting trouble with the mold. IF all goes as planned, we may be able to fill your order before Christmas. But, until I actually have parts in hand I can't say for certain.

I will communicate any additional information I get on this, as I get it.

Thank you,
Bev

Is that the ONLY difference is a plastic table instead of metal ? Aluminum isn't it ?

Spray some rain-x on the metal one and viol la !

Not sure I would want the ingredients getting on my corals and not only that it only bonds with glass according to the mds file. I got this quote off of a forum where they were discussing using it on ski goggles.

"Its active ingredients are Silicone Oils, Siloxanes and Silicones, di-Me, hydroxy-terminated. These chemicals form Si-O-Si bonds with the surface of the windshield and have Methyl-terminated hydrophobic tail group which repels water. So, it should only work on true glass that is silica based, as the bond will only form with the Si-OH groups that are on the surface of the glass."

only difference i see from mine is the aluminum table is now plastic, to be honesy i am glad mine is not plastic that way i dont have to worry about it breaking.
have not had any issue with mine, no oxidation or anything

i got mine in finally last week, there's no metal on the whole unit it's actually pretty nice. And the table is sturdy , i don't think you could break it if you tried. THe motor seams to have more torque than the previous model, but the one i used was pretty old so not really a fair comparison.

What else is different about it? I got three years of use out of my last one before I blew the motor trying to cut a piece of granite. That stuff is hard!!! Salt corrosion everywhere on it too, not an issue though the drain did clog up towards the end. I dont use mine wet much anymore either, most thin (ie propagated) corals do fine when cut dry IME.
