Ok so heres my story i am basically building an overcomplicated canister filter that is just as efficent if not more than a sump. I am not doing this because it is better or worse, I am doing this diy build cause i want to challenge myself. so i do not want the replies of "well just get a sump it will work better" or "just get a refugium built in sump". i just need some advice from some experienced DIY'ers. So the way this works is water gets pumped in through a closed line and then pulled through multiple chambers like bio media and mechanical and chemical. then water gets pulled through pump and then pushed through heater and UV and the pushed back up to tank. Now i dont know if this is possible or not but could i have a refugium built into this? like have a closed refgium inline where water gets pumped into refugium. or maybe have a branch off from the main return line and then go into refugium. i dont know, was wondering if yall had any ideas on how to go about this or how i could make a refgium work.

Picture down below is not mine but it is kinda what im doing

it wud work like any other external algae reactor so that wud be fine, i would run a flow meter on this setup unless you are changing mechanical media every 1-3 days

might need to rinse the bio media every couple of months as well if you dont regularly change mechanical media (filterfloss)
