Hi guys, so I just got a 14 gal peninsula Nuevo fusion aquarium from innovative marine. I have it all set up and the pump is SO loud. Any tips?

The stock return pumps are generally pretty quiet from my experience. What kind of noise is it making?

Make sure it’s not touching the glass in the compartment. I’ve found they’re generally pretty quiet pumps. Still got a sicce 1.0 for it, now the stock pump is a back up.

It’s just the motor hum. It’s not touching the glass at all. I’ll keep messing with it. Just wanted to make sure this wasn’t a normal thing[emoji30]

Mine was always noisey, i replaced my 20gall nuvo with a sicce 1.5 and its almost silent (Tank is in my bedroom about 6 ft from my head)

place it on a piece of sponge filter media, that should damped the sound a bit. I have two pumps in my IM25 and the stock pump is louder than the other.

I might have to just get a new pump. Luckily this tank is in the dining room though so I’ve put it off for a few days

I’ve tried putting it on filter media, surrounding it with filter media, and putting it on some silicone. Still noisy. Probably just gonna replace it at this point.

I did the same with my nuvo 20.
I would definately recommend the Sicce. They are quiet and affordable.

Thanks everyone! I’m gonna go get a new pump today! Still living vicariously through all of you with the reef tanks, this one is set up as a fresh water planted community, I just figured a saltwater forum would have more experience with this tank in particular [emoji4] happy reefing!

There was a contest with the IM14 on another reef forum this summer and pretty much everyone who participated complained about the pump noise. I replaced mine with a Sicce.
