Innovative marine 30l build.

I got lot of free frags from local friends. Not sure they are cool with calling out name so I'll just say local friends for now. But I'm really thankful that they shared so much for my tank.

I do have a problem with placement. I'm out of space [emoji23]

Some of frags got stress from long transport time but hope they come back colorful like before!

Elegance is at the back of the tank for now

Updates!! Easy sps are adopted my tank and getting ready to grow.

2 of fishes died. Diamond goby jumped. Kole tang died as well (I assume it's from internal parasite and stress me bothering the tank too much.. when I was doing wc I accidentally pour the all new water on him because I thought nothing was there..)

New additions are yellow tang, flame angel, purple dotty back, and starry blenny.

All been healthy for 2 weeks now.

I'm actually lost on the direction of the tank. Trying some acros in the tank would be cool expierence since it has been 3 months and water matured up bit.... but I find out I'm more of softie or euphylia guy (only because it has lot of movement and way cheaper than 1 inch acro frags lol)

Any recommendations on corals are welcome.

My water parameters stays steadily at

Nitrate: 0~2 depends what and how much I feed
Phosphate : 0.01
Alk : stays between around 8.2or 3 to 8.5
Cal :500
Mag : 1400ish

Feeding : nori, mysis, brine shrump with algae, full spectrum pellets, seaweed extreme pellets.

Dosing : changed from esv to tropic marine all for Reef ( wonderful product), red sea coral coloration A/B

Thinking to buy reef roid to raise nitrate.

I noticed you have a Gyre 1K do you find it too much flow for the 30L? Thanks

Yes way too much flow sand was flying everywhere with 20% flow. I do not recommend unless you have bare bottom tank. I just sold it to local reefer. One mp10 is more than enough in this tank

Thank you cojo8888, Sorry for the delay.. I have one that's practically brand new that I was going to put in my 30L but since I have 3 powerheads (@ 660 gph) and a current DC flow pump (up to 1050 gph which I will of course run at about 40-50%) as a return maybe I will sell I just like all the different setting it has but I do like my current loop system as well.

It's been almost 4 months now. I see coraline algae everywhere especially on the rock, increased population of microfaunas..

For corals, I'm having a good growth on birdnest and red montis (maybe too much lol). Also I'm seeing Duncan making new 6 new heads, so I'm very happy with my growth so far. Need to feed them more often to make color pop but I'm too lazy these days...

Also not sure which fish was killing my snails but all of my snails are dead (could be emerald crab?)

Fishes are doing good. Fat and happy.

The tanks looking good man!! I’ll be starting an IM 30L build this winter with a lot of the same stuff your using. Going to go SPS dominant. Curious to know what you think of the setup I’m planning:

- InTank media baskets chambers 1 & 5 (floss, seachem matrix, chemipure blue, seachem purigen top to bottom)
- IM Nuvo Skim DC skimmer midsize chamber 2
- IM midsize Reactor with seachem seagel chamber 4
- mightyjet midsize return pump, marine pure balls, heaters, ato, and intake pump/outake for Pax Bellum Algae Reactor in middle chamber

Same skimmer and Reactor as you, except instead of a fuge I’ll be using Algae Reactor. Also planning on two clowns, leopard wrasse, goby, and either coral beauty or flame angel!

Also how are you liking the IM dc skimmer? Do you find it does sufficient skimming for this tank or would you recommend going with a larger hang on back skimmer?

That's a really solid list of gears. Can't wait to see it. Only concern would be chamber space for pax. Not sure which pump you using it to circulate but my mid size mightyjet takes lot of space along with heater and marinepure bag for me hope it works!

As for skimmer, I love it so far.

Pump actually broke after 3 months use but innovative marine company was very kind for replacing. They were not that far away from me so I drove and changed.

For performance, I can't complain they take out nasty junk if you set it up to dry skim, and wet skim is great too. No microbubble except first few days after installation. I have spare skimmer which is tunze 9001, and it's not comparable. DC skim wins. I didn't buy aquamaxx or Reef octopus hob skimmers because of overflowing can happen And I heard both needs to be clean constantly on body so I went wirh dc skim and I'm happy with it (bit lazy to clean lol) not dead silent like dc return pumps but its quiter than my mp10 (80% flow) so no complain on noise also. Hope it helped!

I don't like innovative marine reactor tho.
It took me awhile to figure out how to use it well. And it's not consistent due to its design.
Just decent equipment so far.

Appreciate the feedback! Think I’m planning on using a Cobalt MJ900 for the pax, hopefully it’ll fit!

Good to know the Innovative Marine skimmer works well as it’s the easiest option, think I’m gonna go with that. Glad to hear your having success with it as this makes me a lot more confident in using it. I think having the Pax Bellum + this skimmer, i should have enough nutrient export to be able to feed the fish and corals on the heavier side. A larger skimmer with the Pax would probably be over skill! Sucks to hear about the reactor, I may still go with it just because I know it will be a easy fit since it’s made for this tank. Following your build, keep the updates coming :)

Update! TBH not much tho;).. busy with life so purple stylo got bleached bit from base but now recovering ( I forgot to change my filter foam and ato was decreasing salinity fast... lol) but since now I'm watching carefully on everything it's all doing good again. Finally added some acros.. red dragon and green slimer. Hopefully I dont kill them! Lot of thing going on with life so I'm slowly thinking on trade all of my sps to lps and softies.. lol that is all

Bought some nice scoly and gold torch.
Ai nero5 (very happy with it)

I took out fan because teffo aquarium controller got broken. They said they are going to send new one soon. I'm thinking to just buy apex at this moment.

I've lost some colors on green slimer since I dropped so much and out of superglue right now.. red dragon shows white tip at the end.. not sure its bleached or growing.

That's it for now.

Did you ever get that algae reactor in middle chamber? I am looking to get a fuge or reactor going in my tanks as my nitrates are a tad high ~10/15 ppm.
