looking for APS stand inside installs, hacks, mods, etc. If you have one (any size APS stand) and came up with clean installs of equipment/electronics post some pics here. Thank You!

Here is my solution for my IM50, it’s a work in progress. I wanted something to keep my electronics clean, organized and reducing the risk of water contact. Im not a skilled DIY person but I always liked the equipment racks some reefers fabricated, so instead I found a small wall cabinet at Ikea (Lillangen 15 3/4x8 1/4x25 1/4 ) that I am mounting my power bars, cables on the inside and all controllers on the outside. I am going to drill the cabinet and add some plastic grommets for the cables to pass through tomorrow if I have time.

Once it’s all finished I will be mounting it inside the APS with very strong velcro tape. On the outside door I am going to have my tunze 6055 controllers, 9004dc skimmer controller, 3155 ato and the apex display. On the back I am going to use cable guides to ensure the drip loop is in place on all of the cables.

This is great. I am in the process of designing something for my Reefkeeper Lite and the rest of the equipment in my stand (Nuvo APS 50) and would love to see what others have done. I’ll post mine when it’s finished.

lagoon 25 APS stand finally got it almost done... happy with the bright white, lots of extra space, designated electronics shelf. all from cheap closet shelving, few L brackets, bunch o zip ties, couple 1/2 inch oak boards painted white.

Here is mine I had it made after having all my electronics inside my cabinet along with a sump.
I have a JBJ 45 AIO that I converted to have a sump

Nice!! I haven’t made any progress on mine yet but hopefully getting to it within the next couple of weeks time permitting. I have one cable from my return pump that isn’t very long which is messing up my placement of components. Had to rethink my layout. Glad to see you found a workable solution.

Nice and creative. How did you attach the oak board to the side of the stand. Looks like there is some silver bracket on the top and bottom of the board.

I have the APS stand as well :) thanks for starting this thread!

I also got the APS shelf, which has helped to at least allow me to put test kits, etc on top while having the ATO reservoir, dosing containers on the bottom.

For the controllers I just used velcro tape and put them on the side panels inside. Not the cleanest looking LOL so I'm here to learn what others have done!

Would love to see if anyone else has made some shelving/modifications to their IM 25 stands? I'm thinking of building some shelves/storage areas on the side, and above my ATO container. I also have a shelf that the previous owner installed, but it looks like IM doesn't sell these anymore?

Here's mine currently

I'm also wanting to build a spot to keep my 150w MH ballast in the stand, and potentially get a 5 gallon ATO container [like the sapphire ATO container] that fits right down the middle of the tank [front to back] so that I can build little shelves on both sides.

Or maybe B:
Black rectangle is the existing shelf
Blue rectangle is a Trigger systems ATO
The golden/yellow rectangle is new shelves framed in 1x1 or similar

With a 5 gallon bucket ATO [what I have now] I think this might fit.

Or maybe only this will end up fitting

I hated assembling that thing. Nothing seemed to want to fit and I’m pretty sure the instructions they sent weren’t for the one I had. Once it was finally together it seems nice enough.

This is what I did, it’s on my build thread.
I actually ran into your build thread right after I commented on this thread!

It turned out nice! Why did you decide not to build a shelf in? I just moved my tank to the "family room" and one of my conditions for it being out there is that there can't be "fish stuff" sitting around, so everything has to be contained to the stand. I'm thinking a few shelves and some slightly smaller areas/shelves for keeping testing kits, tongs, basters, chemicals and additives etc.

I mounted a sheet of 1/4'' king starboard into the back of the stand to serve as a mounting point for the controllers and dosers. It wasn't cheap, but I didn't have the patience to paint a piece of wood to match.

What did you use to mount it? Are those rivets?

Did yours not come with a floor/bottom? I bought my tank/stand secondhand.

I used self tapping stainless screws:

I have the floor for it, it's currently in my basement, it's a pretty flimsy piece of plastic, I am working on reinforcing it and bringing it up to the level of the inner rim.... Replacing the 30L AIO with a 30L EXT. At that point it'll all be moved out to an external controller cabinet. Mine came with a shelf and mounting brackets for the shelf too.

Also, I misspoke, the starboard is 1/2''

I could hear your wife as i read that lol.

I have enough room to go back in and add a shelf, even cut the pieces to add it, but ultimately its in my bedroom, and i have a desk and night stand near by to hold any additional supplies i may acquire. When it comes time to actually need to start dosing the tank i have enough room to slide the 10g back and place reservoirs in front and still be able to mount a dosing pump.

@oneoffcustom
Nice! I'm planning to add a second 150w MH to the tank, so I'm thinking one more shelf so that I can put the two ballasts in the stand, and then utilize in front of the ballasts for food/dry storage etc. Then either shelves down one side [bucket] or both sides [Trigger ATO container] for the other things like additives etc. Thinking to leave enough room in the bottom of the side shelves to be able to put in some slim dosing containers in the future.

The tank was in my Office, but we're converting that to a guest bedroom and turning our guest room into another bedroom, so the tank is now in "public space", where before it was just in my "office/mancave" so buckets all over the place was no issue :D

Well we added in our first 2 pieces of life. Just two no name zoa frags, but something to test the waters so to speak!
