hello was just wondering if i would be able to put some seachem matrix in the bottom part of the all in one tank or would that create a dead zone, also does anyone know the exact purpose of this design? cant find anything on the internet about it.

dead zones would be bad but ive also read low oxygen enviroments can convert nitrate into the gas?

edit: the bottom part of chamber 3 is what im referring to.

Also the return pump is not stock and barely fits in there, should i haave it drawing water from the left side which would have it pushed against the glass somewhat (hasnt seemed to be a problem) or should it draw from the right side(where the rest of chamber 3 is)

I put 1 liter of Seachem matrix in media bags and placed them in a similar chamber of my IM30L for that exact purpose.

It doesn’t matter which way the pump faces.
