July 6 is the official day but I was thinking about a 4th of July video special though. I have already been cheating and getting some stills and video while I learn how to use the camera.

I cleaned skimmer cup yesterday for the first time in over a year... Yes you read that correctly. I have not removed my skimmer cup in over a year and the neck was still perfectly clean. The rest of it was far from it.

Bad news bears...

The lemonpeel did not last. I did not qt it... it was active and eating on day one but after that it was keeping to its little spot under a rock. I just assumed that it was being shy and would come around. Just yesterday I added a ton of food just to watch it eat. I didn't think anything was wrong. This morning I found it on its side and breathing heavily.

The fish store water was 1.019/25ppt. So maybe there was some osmotic shock but reguardless I feel super bad and responsible.
I broke a lot of my own rules and now I am paying the price.

Don't forget the fundamentals. Complacency is the path to failure.

PS: I’m not judging (I’ve been there). I just want to understand.

I do see red inflammation. Not sure if it’s a bacterial infection or uronema. Can’t tell without a microscope, but losing fish absolutely sucks.
