Innovative Marine just discontinued their EXT and INT lines of aquariums + stands only kits. They now sell only complete systems—aquariums + stands + sumps + plumbing. I was literally one week away from ordering an EXT 100 with a stand because I don’t need the sump, and had even called them to ask some questions about when I should place my order (I was going out of town for a couple of weeks and didn’t want it to show up while I was gone). Then yesterday they had removed the aquarium + stand only options from their website. I called to ask what happened and they told me those options were discontinued.

Innovative Marine, why would you do this? I hope you bring back the aquarium + stand option, or someone else will be getting my money.

My IM 30 long was one on the last ones available that wasn't an AIO. I found it with a friend who is a long time LFS owner in her warehouse......Unicorn. Maybe an internet search will pay off. Someone may have what you need in stock, stuffed in some warehouse somewhere.

When sales decline, I imagine they will revert to offering it a la carte again.

Check BulkReefSupply.com and Saltwateraquarium.com for Innovative Marine aquariums. They might still have those options available.

Yeah I was eying their 200 ext but I don't want their sump and I'm not paying that price. When a marine land 180 can be had for $1200, $3000 was a doable price. I'll check back when I'm actually in thearket for a bigger tank but I'm not going to look twice at those prices, along with waterbox and redsea.

Crazy isn't it. I went to place my order for a 200 EXT after months of putting the money aside and was dumb founded. I already have a sump and a return pump. I dont want their sump that you can't put in a rolling filter on and a return pump that I can't control with my hydros. Very strange strategy. I opened a chat session on their site and they were like yup only complete systems. Now I am trying to find another manufacture. I really like their dimensions and the overlfow plus the nice stand. Oh well.

Yeah this was sad to me also! I’ve had a 100G priced out for quite some time and plan to upgrade in a few years and while I love the 20G Nuvo I have I do not like the sump!

Guess you could always sell the sump and try to recoup any lost money but I doubt it. Plus with that sump you’ll need an ato outside of tank cabinet which doesn’t work for me!

Baffles me that all the big tank manufacturers don’t offer piecing out of systems. Before I settle on innovative marine I really was looking hard at waterbox but i contacted them to buy just a tank and they said they couldn’t do that. Redsea forget out them!

I just noticed this as well, I've been shopping tanks and noticed it's really all of the popular manufacturers. All the tanks are basically packaged into these turnkey systems with stands. I am going to custom build the stand to match the cabinets in my house, it blows me away that they'd rather not sell me a tank at all since I don't want their stand or sump.

I have an IM tank. I love it.

I hate this news. Exclusively bundling everything together is bad for the hobby. It's a great option until it's the only option, then it becomes a problem. Proprietary connections, apps, systems, etc are bad. I think removing individual options is just a business move in that direction.

And if everyone only sells bundles you have to pick a side.
