All right, I'm in it now. I've started dreaming about my reef tank. I'm very new to the hobby, but adopted an established FOWLR tank. I have a pair of beautiful mated clowns and I've been wanting to get them an anemone but I've been afraid it might kill them or another fish in my tank. I recently got a maxi mini not knowing their fish killing reputation, so decided to leave that one in its own quarantine tank forever.

Last night, my husband and I decided to pick up a bubble tip anemone for the clowns. I considered skipping QT, but too nervous that I could make the fish ill with ich. So I put the BTA in the quarantine tank, which is basically a second tank full of coral frags at this point.

I dreamt that I woke up, and the whole tank looked like it had been bombed. The tentacles were waving everywhere and taking bites out of a decimated hammer and xenia. The Duncan was a smoking plug, the mushroom was gone, the leather was half eaten, and my husband and I are attempting to battle the tentacles and keep it from jumping out at us. Then its star wars-esque purple head tentacle appeared with crazy teeth and ate a crab.

Thought you'd all appreciate my journey into horror.

The real BTA is peacefully attached to its new rock hiding from the flow this morning.

Picture attached of last night when I dropped it in and of the frag/QT tank.

That's a different one.
The nightmares I usually have are about pipes breaking, me not shutting of the RO water, or the whole tank exploding.

Welcome to the obsession.

Agreed i usually dream of broken tanks and water...oh so much water...

For over 40 years I've had multiple dreams like yours and probably other members as well.

I've even had dreams that I've been at homes only to find critters in tanks outside, many unkept ones and didn't know what to do with 100's or thousands of fishes and stuff. argh.

Or finding tanks in the house I forgot I had, the fish were alive but had been forgotten about for years. Double argh.

I used to have the exact same dream about my pet rats. I used to run a rescue, and it was hard to give all the love and care they deserved so I have had reoccurring dreams ever since about a cage I've forgotten about filled with my elderly beloved rats that are somehow still alive but sick, and the cage is filthy and they haven't been fed. It's awful. I have really vivid dreams. Crazy story arcs usually.

LOL! Those are the same nightmares I have! I have woken up in the middle of the night to run down the stairs to make sure my RODI unit was turned off! Welcome to the reef tank addiction! LOL! [emoji6]

So my dream wasn't too far off... the leather is smoking guys...

Not shutting of the ro water is my nightmare. I jump out of bed in the middle of the night all the time and run to the garage thinking I only dreamed shutting it off. I really need to put in a float valve.

My nightmare is finding a few tanks from years ago that I forgot about. I feel so guilty at how hungry they are.

I get the forgotten tanks dream too!

Also, I dream my freshwater tank that I eventually neglected as a 12 year old was still going and a wave of guilt comes over me all over again. Those poor gouramis from 30 years ago!

It's always about leaking tanks for me...leaking silicone seals, shattered glass, spewing pumps, flopping fish and smelly corals...

Those all seem like reasonable ones. Mine is just weird. Used to read the occasional 'horror' comic by Berni Wrightson. He had a story called The Gourmet where a guy who ate nothing but frogs legs got what was coming to him at the hands of all the legless frogs he had created. For a while I had this recurring dream where all of the fish that had died under my care were coming for me ...... just creepy. Not sure what that says about my mental well being. Hang on ...... there's this strange knocking at the door .... will be right back .....

I dream of waking up to alarms going off.

I had a freaky dream last night that a bobbit worm gad made a home in one of my favorite rocks. Sat in front of the tank with a flashlight for a couple hours to make sure it was just a dream, so i got very little sleep. School was rough today.;Bookworm

Dreaming about a reef misfortune tells me you dont have much to worry about. wow
