sona guy that I buy my drags and such from recently told me about dipping my corals before adding them to my tank to ensure I get no parasites and such. I've heard of this before but never practiced it and he told me about this stuff he uses... It's insect killer he buys from Home Depot, he gave me a free vial of it and told me to mix it with 4 cups of water that I have the corals in while they are acclimating. I did it and out them in my QT to not nuke my main display, as of right now the corals are flourishing open polyps all wavey in the water and happy.has anyone heard of this method? I believe this is what he gave me but I can't remember the exact brand name.

He said that I would see stuff coming off of the corals sometimes such as lil black specs etc etc and I did. So it this actually working or what's going on?

Hopefully he gave you this. I've never heard of anyone dipping with what you mentioned. It may work, not sure, but bayer is proven.

It may have been that one. The liquid was kind of a creamy white. So if it was that one it's completely safe?

I dip all my new corals in Bayer and it's the most effective product for a hitchhiker dip.

The way Bayer works is that it attacks the central nervous system. Since corals have no central nervous system they don't even realize it's there.

What mix ratio do you use? and do you make a new batch for every coral?

It's not Bayer! Bayer has chrysanthemum extract and tobacco tea as it's active ingredients.....known for years as "safe" insecticides. I don't know what gamma cyhalothrin is, the active ingredient in Spectracide Bug Stop. I wouldn't use it.

Buy the Bayer stuff! One milliliter for every 100 mls of tank water.....15 minute treatment followed by two rinses before going back into the tank.

So it wouldn't kill aiptasia or types of algae that's on the coral?

The guy gave me a small Api vial of it and told me to add it to 4 cups of water and let it sit for 15mins and then to move them into 4 cups of tank water for 15 min and then add me to tank. So far they are healthy and that was about a week ago
